A former vicarage from 1750 in Ripsdorf in the Eifel region functions these days as a comfortable weekend home. Taking into account the listed property, comprehensive renovation work was needed both in terms of energy-provision and historical features so as to preserve the originality of the old walls, yet equally meet the clients’ demands. The result is a house with characterful rooms containing carefully restored stucco ceilings and a thermally insulated floor made of finely polished exposed screed floors. By breaking through expansively, two small rooms were turned into a spacious, light-filled living area – an impression only enhanced by installing full-length windows that face the garden.
