On an idyllically situated plot in the Spreewald, four holiday homes are being constructed in wood. The new buildings are grouped in a way that reflects the spirit of a traditional four-sided farm with courtyard. The building’s architecture has arisen in keeping with the historical farmyard form and its polarity between inside and outside, safety and openness. With gallery floors and room heights reaching to below the roof, an interplay takes place between cosy, withdrawn areas and open architecture with views of nature. The result is a natural vibrancy in these holiday homes, which integrate unobtrusively with the natural setting, creating both retreat and space, so to say.
